Don Drysdale took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and right fielder Hank Aaron
hit a homerun and had 4 RBI as the New Zealand Kiwis clobbered the outmatched
reeling General Motors Corporate Jets, 12 to 1.
Drysdale(9-14) was very good in the win. He didn't allow much, just 2 hits
and 7 walks in 9 innings. The right-handed Drysdale had his no-hit bid
broken up by Ernie Banks who singled with nobody out in the 6th inning.
Offensively, New Zealand was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate
innings.
Addie Joss(22-11) took the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 5 walks in 5
and 2/3 innings. This win by New Zealand continues their recent hot streak.
In their last ten games, they have a record of 8-2. For the season, they are
71-73. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, General Motors is 1-9 of
late and now has an overall record of 63-77.
