Chuck Klein cracked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Ed Walsh pitched a complete
game at Tech Support Stadium as the Vermont Zaps embarrassed the Mumbai
Slumdogz by the lopsided score of 24 to 4.
Klein propelled Vermont to victory. He blasted a solo shot in the 2nd inning,
doubled knocking in a run in the 3rd inning, doubled plating a run in the 4th
inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 24th of the season) in the 6th
inning. Vermont kept the scorekeepers busy in the 4th inning with 4 runs on
4 hits, the 5th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 5 hits and the 6th
inning when they had 6 runs on 6 hits. The Vermont offense was great,
scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.
The win was credited to Walsh(18-18) who went the whole way allowing 4 runs.
Warren Spahn(16-12) took the loss. He served up 4 homeruns in his 3 innings.
The Vermont ballclub's record now stands at 66-73. Mumbai has a record of
