Warren Spahn went the distance and Johnny Mize went deep and had 7 RBI as the
Mumbai Slumdogz smashed the overmatched New Zealand Kiwis, 19 to 5.
Mize really 'lit it up' for Mumbai. He doubled plating two runs in the 3rd
inning, bombed a two-run dinger (his 14th of the season) in the 5th inning
and singled scoring two baserunners in the 8th inning. Mumbai kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits, the 5th
inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 4 hits and the 8th inning with 5 runs
on 3 hits. Mumbai simply wore out the New Zealand pitching staff, scoring in
6 different innings.
Spahn(11-6) lasted until the end allowing 5 runs for the win. Eddie
Plank(14-8) was the loser. He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs in 2
and 2/3 innings.
