Rickey Henderson had 4 hits and Pud Galvin completed the game without help
from the bullpen at Roundhouse Stadium where the Walkerville Texas Rangers
beat the Wyoming Triops 5 to 2.
Wyoming never recovered after Walkerville took the lead in the bottom of the
3rd inning scoring one runner using 2 hits. After an out was recorded,
Henderson laced a base-knock. Henderson was running on the next pitch and he
stole second. After another out, Walkerville continued their aggressive
style with another stolen base. Ty Cobb was up next and he lined a base-hit.
Walkerville got their 2nd stolen base of the inning. The early run support
proved sufficient for Galvin(7-2) and Walkerville. That was all the run
support Galvin required. Walkerville banged out 11 hits on the afternoon.
The loss was charged to Vic Willis(6-8). He was unable to control the
Walkerville offense and allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
