Jim Thome launched 2 homeruns as the General Motors Corporate Jets defeated
the Verona Ridge Roadrunners by the score of 11 to 9 at Roadrunner
Park.
Thome enjoyed a great day at the plate. He cleared the bases with a Grand
Slam homerun in the 1st inning and clubbed a three-run home run (his 10th of
the season) in the 3rd inning. Verona Ridge threatened in the 9th but
General Motors was able to put down the rally.
The victory was credited to Rube Waddell(4-5) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 9 runs. Mariano Rivera recorded his 3rd save. Nolan Ryan(3-4) ended
up with the loss. General Motors scored big getting 7 runs off him in 2 and
2/3 innings.
