Wade Boggs hit 3 doubles and had 4 RBI and Tom Seaver went the distance as the
E Street Outlaw Petes destroyed the Vermont Saps by a score of 20 to 2 at
Vermont Field.
Boggs had a big day against Vermont. He doubled knocking in a run in the 3rd
inning, doubled bringing in a run in the 6th inning and doubled which was
good for two runs in the 9th inning. E Street kept the scorekeepers busy in
the 3rd inning with 4 runs on 5 hits and the 8th inning which saw them plate
5 runs on 5 hits. The E Street offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9
innings.
The winning pitcher was Seaver(5-4) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Ed
Walsh(3-6) ended up with the loss. He surrendered 12 runs in 5 and 2/3
innings and saw his ERA increase from 4.54 to 5.11.
